WHAT
CAN I DO?
WHAT
IS THERE TO DO?
HOW
CAN I HELP?
CAN’T
SOMEONE ELSE DO IT?!!
There
is so much to do …. There is so much you can be involved in….. There
is always a need… And you know how it is at home, if you wait until
someone else does it, most of the time, it does not get done. This is
God’s house and God’s work that we do! Many things have to be done
on a regular basis. One example is cutting the grass, another is setting
up the sanctuary for worship, another is running the sound room during
services, another is creating the power point presentation and running
it for service, another is greeting people as they come into the
building for service, another is helping out with Sunday School or
Vacation Bible School, another is helping out on Church Work Day,
another is buying groceries certificates, another is donating items for
the yard sale, another is helping move items for the yard sale, another
is helping with the craft fair, another is picking up an extra can of
vegetables or box of cereal and placing in the Food Pantry basket…..I
think you get the idea. There are so many opportunities for you to help
out. Take a moment. Think about it. Pray about it. There is something
for everyone! By taking care of the normal ‘stuff’ allows us to be
able to do the good ‘stuff’ - the community out reach, the spreading
of God’s word and love, and most of all praising God. If you see
something you want to help with but don’t know how to get involved,
please contact the church office and we will get you the information
that you need.

Lakeside United Methodist Church is proud to have the puppet ministry
living, learning and
sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The youth that covey this message are
dedicated to this cause. They are lead by a wonderful and talented person,
Karen Surratt. If you or someone you know are interested in being part of
this ministry please contact Karen or the church office. Also, check the
church calendar
for meeting dates and times.

Interfaith Community Connection,
Inc. (ICC)
“Helping Neighbors & Families in Need”
Our clients learn about ICC’s efforts thru
word of mouth only. No other advertising is done or budgeted. There are
currently 8 multi-denominational churches located in the Waldorf area that
support this worthwhile ministry.
We especially need help with clerical/administrative tasks.
Clients are pre-screened by our volunteers
and those who qualify, get appointments scheduled. Intake appointments
are held on Mondays only. There are generally 5-6 appointments made
(could be a family or an individual). ICC is usually staffed with 2 or 3
volunteers at that time. Clients are seeking assistance with utilities
(electric, gas, oil, or water/sewer), rent/mortgage, and prescription
meds.
Lakeside UMC has been a faithful and loyal
supporter of ICC since 1998! ICC would like to see more churches and
additional individuals join us in this undertaking. I’m happy to report
that Anne Parker has now joined the ranks of ICC volunteers.
